A while ago, I noticed a"Clans of Caledonia" tartan on their web wite and wrote asking for a sample of this and another tartan. "Yes, it will be in the post this evening."
Fine. After 10 days, I wrote again to say nothing had arrived. "Can't understand this. I posted the samples myself. We'll try again."
10 days later, still nothing, so I wrote again. "Very sorry; third time lucky."
But by this time, I had found another tartan I liked and ordered a kilt from the Kiltstore.
I would not like to give the impression that Glenniff are unreliable -- they are among the rare suppliers that propose samples for free! -- and it could have been a mistake in the address or postal service.
Replies were quick and courteous, but they lost a sale -- and I ended up paying far more than the price Glenniff proposed.
I wish it were easier to gauge colours from a computer screen, so that it would not be necessary to get cloth samples.

As Martin says it is very difficult to gauge colours from a monitor screen but if I look up any of the well known suppliers their samples usually look OK. You have to be aware that a lot of places nowadays are passing off cloth and kilts as well as other accessories, even bagpipes, made in India and Pakistan as Scottish. A Scottish kiltmaker will charge around £120 just to make up a kilt never mind the cloth. £199 is quite a lot of cash to pay especially if you are not happy with the result and buying anything on the Internet is a gamble unless the firm is well established with a reputation to protect. My advice is stick to one of the suppliers recommended in posts here. Just remember you can buy a kilt made by the finest tailors in Scotland from the finest cloth for a few pounds over £400.

A reminder. As a customer you can have any two of price, quality, or service.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

The tartan list looks like the Jura range offered by www.Martonmills.com which is also offered by several other firms. The prices impressed me, but I would love to see one of their finished kilts.

Kilts in Marton Mills range of tartan in this price range are available from Kiltstore.net. Again, couldn't be happier with the MoD shade saffron they made me!
PS: I've owned two kilts in Marton fabric, and whilst it isn't quite as crisp as, say, Lochcarron fabric, it is excellent value for money. They're weaving a special tartan for me at the moment ... the minimum order was smaller, the price less, and the turnover time shorter than Lochc!

Crownpoint Road is in the east end of Glasgow, and is within the G40 postcode area. It appears that the address given by ScoutNiagara and on their own website is only a PO box address within the PO sorting office in that area. This is the only address which the company seems prepared to divulge. Their premises could be situated anywhere, not necessarily Glasgow, with the Glasgow postal box being where they get their mail forwarded from. It could be a genuine kiltmaker working from home and not wanting his landlord or the tax man to find out he is using his home for business purposes, but I'd certainly avoid dealing with anyone who only gives a post box address and lacks the confidence to supply customers with a direct contact address.

I bought a kilt from Gleniff last year and I can't praise them enough (I've been posting about them on this forum ever since). I already had a couple of 'dress' kilts so I only bought it as an (expensive) casual kilt, thinking like you that the quality wouldn't be much good. I was very mistaken, and it compares favourably with any of my others. It's the one on my avatar.
The Kilt is my delight !

The site looks terrific!
And they carry this:

Luckily I have a few months before I need to order it.
It looks like the jackets are made to measure. They take chest and waist measurements as well as overall length and sleeve measurements. Also you can choose your style of epaulets or have none at all. Too many choices for off the rack in my opinion.

Yes, they also do a jacket called 'The Clansman' which is like a Regulation Doublet but with a high neck, which would go with a lace jabot, studded grandad shirt or a jacobite shirt. I'm going to get myself one of these after Christmas for sure !

I saw that an interesting jacket, but I think the argyle will be much more useful for summer events.
