Trefor .. the folk club is a real casual affair ... if you want to wear a rugby shirt thats fine too .. just thought I'd let you know ... I'll be taking my new tie off once I get to the folk club. Elaine decided she would make a better choice of a red tie than me. So she's gone shopping and I been over the club setting up. Will post a pic when she has returned.
Until later Tefor

Derek might choose a dodgy tie, Trefor, but he is right about the casual dress code for the Folk Club!!
The first time I visited Rumney, it was for a Ceilidh, not the Folk Club, and I felt distinctly over-dressed! I forget now which kilt I wore, but I also had on a Jacobean Shirt and leather Potaine, with full-up hose and dance-ghillies - plus, of course, sporran and belt.
Recently, for the Folk Club, I wore my Bro-Leon (Breton) kilt with a plain black long-sleeved, open-necked shirt. A nice black leather waistcoat (from Union Kilts, actually), black full-up hose with yellow flashes, plain black shoes, black belt with Breton waist-plate and my black Freelander sporran. All very comfortable and 'evening casual'!
So, don't dress up for the evening with jacket and tie. Just be comfortable and thoroughly enjoy yourself, as I did.

Here are some pics I took at the Rumney Folk Club last night.
The Technical Perverts - wonderful name for a group!

Banjo player Owen - he has a fine voice.

Some of the audience.

The all-important bar staff listening in - had to lighten this one a bit.

Derek and Elaine. Derek had changed his mind about what to wear and had donned his McKay - I'm afraid that the flash doesn't do the colour justice as it's a much darker green than that.

Elaine - it was the first time I had heard her sing (or Derek play for that matter) - the voice of an angel.

Trouble is if I wear my Roberts cilt the red rugby shirt might be considered clashy
But I must confess I'm tempted!
