My first and second have been Stillwater Economy Kilts.
I think that for my next one I would like to try a true 'eight yard wool'.
I am also interested in trying to make my own.

Please excuse me for my ignorance, but what is a 'tank' kilt?

My first kilt was a cunniham(sp?) that was made by Blooming Leather now called Kilt Krossings.

My first kilt was an off-the-peg viscose/acetate in Campbell of Argyll that I purchased in Edinburgh on my honeymoon.

"Tank" is a bit of internal X-marks language, coined, I believe, by Jimmy Carbomb some years back. It refers to a handsewn, eight yard heavyweight wool (i.e., 16 oz) kilt.

The first was an SWK standard weight black Stewart. I have since give that to my nephew and moved on to all wool kilts. Of course, my next purchase is going to be an USAK in the American Heritage.

First kilt I ever ordered was the Utilikilt original in woodland camo.

It took 90 days to get here...three months...by the time it arrived I had two SportKilts, three Amerikilts, and probably a few others.
