lol whe I lived in Aurora ( Kenton and......just south of Colfax where all the car dealerships are) my apartment supposedly had a patrol .....didnt stop sombody from stealing a tire and rim from my old GEO METRO!!!!

I really supprised the manager when I asked him to help me get the jack under the car( they didnt even put a brick under it ) and he said " how?"
I handed him the jack and proceeded to lift the car up by my self and told him "slide it under"

all he said to me re: the theft....well its just a courtesy patrol and they only come by once a night....I told him I was glad my lease was up in two months

sad part was I replaced both for $35 tire $20 from pep boys, and a new rim from the junk yard $15.

sorry bout the rant ...it just made me think back to that and pissed me off once again...they could have gotten one for $35....but instead they steal food from my newborns( at the time) mouth......

    ok I'm done

Yeah. I'm at Havana & Alameda. There's a whole bunch of car dealerships in the area. Hell, we're right by one of the biggest Chrysler dealers in the metro area. You'd think that we'd see a few more cops than we do. Then again, this is Aurora, and our cops here have gained my contempt for the most part. (Not to say anything about cops in general, but the Aurora PD has a really bad reputation, and from what I have seen it has been well deserved. They wouldn't even come over here and decided that our report must be filed by phone.)

lol I lived just a little notrh of Alameda! there was a new dealership going up just as we moved out of there! ( thank you for reminding me of the other street..Havana) 254 N Kenton st. to be exact.... not one of the best areas to live...we actually had a kid using my wife's car as a jungle gym....foot prints all over the roof/ hood....and you KNOW if the kid would have broken through the sun roof that his parents would probably have sued US

if i remember correctly there was a BBQ joiint right across the street from our side street on Havana ...and just a little north of our side street( 2nd Ave) is a big old warehouse type building thats been for lease for about 10 years.....brings back memories, some good ...some bad

The Hopewell PD is just as bad as The Aurora group. My home was broken into, by cutting a window screen and breaking a glass pane out of the window to reach in and open the latch. The thief or thieves took some cash I had in a drawer as well as a couple of "weapons". They generally trashed my bedroom looking for other stuff to steal. The PD did send an officer over to take a report, but that was all he did.I asked him if anyone was going to come over and loook for fingerprints or other evidence, but he said, no, it was probably juveniles and there wouldn't have the prints on file. I asked him, "considering the "weapons that were taken, shouldn't you be more concerned about finding the guys that did this" To which he replied, "they'll turn up in a pawn shop in a few days.".I gave him photos of my "weapons" showing each weapon and a card with the "weapons" serial number printed on it displayed underneath. After a couple of weeks, I called the non emergency number to inquire if my property had turned up. I was pretty much told, nothing has turned up, don't call us, we'll call you. Of course, I reported my loss to the insurance company as soon as possible, and they paid off on the claim. It was at least two more months before I got a call from a detective? at the Hopewell PD.I'm thinking as he identifies himself, they recovered my property. Boy was I wrong. He had called to ask "Have you recovered your stolen property yet" To which I replied, "I thought that was your job, and no, my insurance company has already paid off on my loss claim." I was incredulous when he told me, I shouldn't have collected on my loss yet. I felt like asking him if I should arm myself, get a toy badge and go start investigating my break in, but I managed to keep my mouth shut.

Let's not start targeting police departments and/or police officers here, OK? Thanks!

You guys are all makin' me glad I live in the middle of nowhere

People are very often somewhat taken aback when met at the door of the shop by a man in a kilt with a katana in his hand. (I make them, for those who do not know me). It's kinda fun, usually, and you never know who's gonna say what. Never any wise cracks about skirts though ;)

Since I have a couple of blades in the house, there is usually one somewhere in the bedroom. I often have a vision of what would happen if I were surprised one night. You see, I normally sleep in the altogether. So, I'm surprised, grab a blade, and go to check out the noise. Imagine any would be burglar seeing a rather large, NAKED man wielding a sword.

Take care that you don't inadvertently bring a knife to a gunfight.
