James, this is fantastic. You've got one impressive young man there.
Nice idea - being kilted yourself when you drop him off at school.
Hope the day goes well.

my oldest son wants to wear a kilt to school... BUT, the school does have a dress code... and as far as skirts as concerned (and yes a kilt is a skirt) it cannot have a split above the knee... that kind of rules out a kilt since the apron does in fact split past the knee... now... will he wear on to school... you bet he will.... on the last day

Better to recon the situation
Being the father of a sometimes kilted son, I strongly suggest that you check out the teacher, principal and whoever runs the school and let them know of your intentions. Not to rain on the parade, but it is better to spare your son possible embarassment from both faculty and students.
Hope for the best and good luck.

My son loves to wear his kilt around the house, but is still a bit shy about out in public. Last week just before parents night he said "Dad, you're not going to wear that in front of my teacher are you?" I told him I wouldn't if it made him uncomfortable but I did make a deal with him that I would work out a day with his teacher to come to class kilted and talk about the kilt and our Scottish heritage.

I wish my son realized how good he looks in his kilt, he really shines when he wears it!
