I'm still trying to figure out how Steve uses, or would use "striped" yarn.....let alone how to measure and record the findings....I can see I'm spending too much time around engineers again!

I do like the idea of Steves kilts with the pockets, those are pretty slick. One piece of the fabric is 60 inches wide, the other is 58. The length of my kilts will be 23 and a half I believe, Times that by 2 pieces that makes 47 inches, so there should be some trim, right? am I wrong? which would mean that I would in theory have I should have a piece of each fabric 4 yards by I dont know, 6 inches or so right? that leaves at least 5 inches of waste on the piece to line up the tartan or what ever. I dont know Ive never made a kilt. I would think that would be enough for a sash.

I was thinking maybe if possible having an tank made from one piece and 2 box pleats out of the other. will that work?

They are slick, Slick. however with a tartan you are only considering those front slash pockets right? I would think tartan and cargo pockets (even matched) would look all that well. There is a pic of Steve in his XMarks kilt hands thrust into those pockets...

According to my fingers, yes but then again Steve has more than me and probably already has his shoes off pondering that yarn yardage equation...

Yeah, I was talking about the tartan kilts he offers, not the one with the cargo pockets. I'm considering all my options. I want to have them made by like next Christmas so theres no big rush. I'm leaning right now towards two 4 yard box pleated kilts and one 8 yard tank or a more casual 5 yard knife pleated kilt.
