    Shhhh!!! quiet!!!!

In fact, mod squad please delete this entire thread.

We like our local wines. We like having them all to ourselves. When you cross any border leaving BC you must pass through the mind erasing beams that delete any knowledge of our wines.

Now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time.

Ontario and the Okanagan Valley of BC are some of the best cold-climate viticultural growing regions in the world even though we're number 32 on the list of world producers by quantity (USA is 4th). We have a wide variety of grapes grown, too; more than just Chardonnay and Zinfandel. While we don't yet, have a high quantity of grapes grown, our wines are winning in world competitions.

I think what everyone says about production volumes is correct. I suspect that most of the wine produced on Vancouver Island is sold at the wineries themselves and in local restaurants. The production levels are so small that very little of it even gets into the local liquor stores or wine outlets. I've no documentation for this, it's just what I pick up in my meanderings through wineries, etc.

Check these guys out --> http://www.middlemountainmead.com

At the Ren Faire I worked at the end of July, the pub had the Black Mead and I must say that it was FANTASTIC!!

I've also heard rumours of a meadery going in somewhere in Burnaby.

    Enjoy!

Probably figure wine should be from AD.

Actually, I've noticed that the US has some interesting laws regarding interstate wine sales. I wanted to send my uncle some Rolling Stones wine but they can't ship from California to Connecticut. They can ship the grape juice but what's the point of that?

That could be part of the issue, what do I know?

    More wine stuff

A few years ago we started an annual trip through the Okanogan wine country. The first year was by motorcycle but that mode has since been abandoned as you just can't carry enough of your new favorites, even when pulling a trailer. Being from the wine country of Washington allows us to try as many as you can buy! But I must say that there are many BC wines comparable to our local wines and several which were outstanding bargains before the bottom fell out of the $$$$.

I'm with Steve, keep the BC wines secret.
