It's too bad you didn't make the detour to Franklin, meeting Matt is well worth a 3 hour detour. Besides, you might have left another $300 or so lighter, with one of his box pleats on order. By the time I left there, I spent around $800 or so, but I ordered a full 9 yard tank. The $800 wasn't just for the kilt, though.

I have a dress sporran from L&M and it's calf skin. Not all the dress sporrans coming out of Nova Scotia are seal. So you might still be OK

And anyway, so long as you don't go telling the USFW folks, or customs what does it matter ? I doubt that it is anything on the prohibited list, frankly, though it 'is' possible I suppose.

Rabbit, seal, wookie; I don't see what the big deal is. As long as it isn't a soylent sporran I don't have a problem with it.

don't be passing of that white rabbit as baby seal around a Canadian. We have a different meaning of clubbing here in Canada.
A seal walks into a pub.
"What'll you have?"
"Anything but Canadian Club!"

If USF&WS charged anyone, it would be the importer (nameless shop) for knowingly importing product (sealskin sporran) prohibited by the Marine Mammals Protection Act (THE LAW). Oh, and they would take your sporran away as evidence.
If you're really concerned, call up the Cincinnati/Erlanger office for Fish and Wildlife and ask if they'll take a look at it. Of course, you may end up losing your sporran that way ...
