My two cents, after buying a yard of their 13 ounce Clergy tartan.
It looks nice. It is making a great stole for my pastor. It would make a great tablecloth, or a bit of tartan to add color to another item. I might use it for a vest, for example, or a woman's bodice. But a kilt? No. It' s just too lightweight and lacks structure..
This is just MY opinion.

Alan, reading your post gave me an idea. I was trying to think of a use for the fabric. Maybe I can overdye it somehow to mute the colors and wear it as a great kilt when I attend dusty events! Or wrap Christmas presents in it? I will at least save a square of it to use as a distress flag when in the wilderness. It couldn't possibly be missed.

Hey! I reckon donning a Robertson Red Kilt with a loud Mac Leod fly plaid & Irish National hose (!!!) ought to just about do in the Kilt Police forever!

I prefer my wool Robertson Red to either of my PVs for color, but that is just wrong.

Waitaminnit - that's not Robertson Red!
Look at the positioning of the wide blue stripe in the undercheck in both tartans - in the true Robertson Red, where the undercheck forms a "square," the blue "corner" in one square faces the blue corners in the nearby squares.
The Frugal Corner poly-acrylic doesn't do this! Their blue corner always faces the same direction - they took the Robertson and made it asymmetric!

Hm--actually growing up I always thought Robertson red was asymmetric, then I bought I piece of it recently and it wasn't. They had flipped it around so it is symmetric and ended up with a huge sett.

You could always donate it to the local Robertson clan people for use as a tablecloth or clan banner for the clen tent. I wish there was an inexpensive MacNaughton fabric for this very reason.

Thanks for the suggestion, Alan. I was kinda teasing---odd as it looks, it is a clan tartan and I wouldn't show it disrespect. I'll find it a good home with some Robertson clan, perhaps even with mine. My nearest clan society is several hours away.

Actually, the Robertson tartan has always been intended as a symmetric tartan (as the vast majority of traditional Scottish tartans are). If you've ever come across an assymetric version of it, it would have been (as is the case here) an error in production.
As an interesting point of trivia, the most famous assymetric tartan, the Buchanan, was originally symmetric and was made assymetric by mistake. It just turned out to be more popular that way!
Aye,
Matt
