I own two standard and one heavyweight. As stated, they're not hand tailored tanks. However, you can't beat them for the price. I wear mine all the time. I'm wearing my heavyweight right now as a matter of fact. They great and the service you get from SWK can't be beat. I haven't been able to talk myself into getting a thrifty, though. I may get one or two for those hot summer days.

I own six (!) of the Thrifty, one Economy, two Standards, and one Heavyweight.
In my opinion they are a very good value.
Their utility and quality is more than acceptable.

Uh, oh...I confess I might own even more. I have at least one Thrifty, Economy, Standard, Heavyweight, and Heavyweight box-pleat...I even have a couple of the old-style (pre-sewn-down pleats) nicer versions.
BTW my understanding is the Thrifty model is replacing the Economy, so if the Economy is what you have your heart set on and it's available in your size go for it. I think the only difference is Thrify=hook-and-loop closure and Economy=buckles.

The only thing missing from the above is the incredible service you get from SWK. In my experience the kilt arrives almost before you finish ordering it (a LITTLE exageration, but 2 days is average). I have two of the Heavyweight wools - Lamont Weathered and Black Watch.

I say go ahead, even the thrifty kilt is a decently made garment. I have two of those, three economies and two heavies. Great for the price!

I bought my son a Thrifty in Black Watch, and I just bought myself a Standard in Royal Stewart. The service is unmatched. The quality is unrivaled for what you are paying. I love mine, and my son loves his. My next will be a Heavyweight. Go SWK!
