Yea - I'm pretty much of a geek, and understand "tricity" and "tronics" the thing just died....... I no longer have any kind of test equipment to do any checks, but all the layman stuff provided no joy.
I use re-chargables for the batteries, as I disliked the repeated expense. Never been dropped, or subjected to temperature extremes, or a voltage surge - - -or ???

Can't suggest a particular model, but I use Logitech hardware for most things.

No, I don't use a mouse because they get in the way and move on their own. Sorry, just find it entertaining when people have trouble with their mouse or anything else I can't use.

Has anyone had good luck with any particular wireless mouse?

I'll ad my endorsement for Logitech. The wireless keyboard and mouse combo I am using is at least 4 years old and going strong. It is the Logitech Cordless Desktop Express, model # Y-RQ57 on the keyboard and M-rr95 on the mouse. I am sure that they have newer models, but these were there inexpensive versions, the combo was at or under $30 if I recall. Mouse needs batteries every 3-4 months, and I don't remembe the last time I put batteries in the keyboard.

I'm using a Kensington Bluetooth PilotMouse Mini with my laptop. I have been using it for about two years and it hasn't given me any trouble, and I take into some pretty hostile environments. I thought a mini would be too small but it fits my ham sized hands pretty well.

I had a wireless and went back to the 'old-fashioned' wired mouse.

Here at work, they gave up on their MS cordless mouses(mice?) because the other electronics would interfere with them and make the pointer do some crazy things.

Just wait, you will be able to use your cell phone as a mouse in the not to distant future.

<heh heh>
I don't worry about meeses for most of my computer work. I use a pen... well, ok, the pen works with my TabletPC
I never lose my pointer... it's always at the tip of my pen when I bring it near the screen. I never worry about batteries because the pen is electromagnetically powered by the active digitizer screen.
