That was the first thing I thought of. But, my counter top vacuum pump is at the manufacturer's for warranty as we speak. It'll be a couple of weeks before I get it back. Great idea though.

Great news! It would be great if it can completely revive itself.

I second the vote for vacuum. At 30" Hg, there will be NO water. The other option is low heat (very low heat) like a gas oven with the pilot light on only. Or a cardboard box with a small light bulb in it, like 10w or a big old fashioned christmas bulb. It should be able to safely stand at least 150F, though I wouldn't get it that hot if I could help it. You only need to be a few degrees above ambient to dry things out.

I dropped a cel phone in over a foot of snow deer hunting two winters ago and couldn't find it. Some friends found it three weeks later, after a thaw. Dried it out in the old gas oven in my shop with the pilot only (where all the welding rod is stored), charged the battery, and used it for another 18 months. The last time I dropped it did it in, however. Landing on concrete from several feet killed it.

I'd like to make a suggestion about the water spots left behind the screen.

Pick up something called Damp Rid. Try to find the one in the canister rather than the bag but either would work for this. Place the Damp Rid pack and the iPod in an air tight bag and leave it alone for a couple of days. The damp rid should draw all of the moisture out of the iPod.

Very very interesting. Any idea where I might find something like that?

That stuff is sold for damp basements (among other uses) - I doubt that you will find much call for it in your neck of the woods........?

Likely just sodium silicate powder. Just a guess, mind you.

Seems unlikely to be a stock item in the desert. I'd agree Jay. Not much need for such things in NM

On that thought, the air it's self is likely to be dry enough with time.

Right, let it lay in the bright sun for several hours - that might help also.
