Yep, from my pleat cut outs

And that's a poured pewter bolster and end cap?
Three swings and three misses. I made a brick of tartancarta from my remnants, cut handle then rough shaped and drilled in a machinist vise.

The end caps are 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum (crashed plane)

The inside pleats from my xmarks kilt so it would be to the stripe.

My next batch will be made on the bias with a brighter tartan to show off the stepped patterning better. The dark blue looks almost black but has cool highlights in the sun.

It looks great. I would never thought of making my own micarta. Yet one more thing to add to my list of stuff to try.

Another thread bookmarked for attempting later.
How thick a block of cutouts did you use to get the handle that thickness?

This one started out at 2 7/8 x 1 x 3/8 inches. Very careful drill press work will get the hole just right. Some shaping on a belt and some 1" crocus cloth, then finishing with 600 and 1000 grit by hand. The finished handle with bolsters is 3".
