It's perfectly imperfect...
I have NEVER understood the perennial female complaint, "I don't like that picture of me. It doesn't look at all like me!" But one can never dare to utter the response, "Sorry, honey. The camera captured exactly what you look like - the way I see you."

At the risk of preaching to the choir, there is a huge surge of pleasure when a person is given the opportunity to tell again - and maybe embellish a wee bit - the story about a unique piece of kit.
Great job, Kevin. I'm sure this grey fox (wherever he is now) appreciates this beautiful and respectful memorializing of his remains.

The roadside has been the source of many projects. I have a red fox (brain tanned) and a badger (alum tanned) that were roadkills. My family is never surprised by what they may find in my freezer. I wish you the best of luck working that pelt and rendering it into something of near eternal beauty.

If they do not leave my chickens alone, I may have a couple of other pelts available. However, so far these would be raccoon. The foxes around here know better than to challange my skill with a 12 ga Claymore.

Kevin that is the most sanitary gruesome picture I have ever seen
Good luck in your endeavor !
I think a raccoon would make a lovely mask sporran. You'd have a mask with a mask.

You know.....
...somewhere in Western Pennsylvania, a winter-weary piper is watching the tube and thinking "..Hmm, that pesky groundhog might make a nice..."
I've just started referring to my cat Beeswax as Thorfinn #96 when he whines about being cold and hungry in the wee hours.

And that is almost exactly what I thought on seeing it. You can ask Yeti if I am telling the truth, but then, my ideas of gruesome might be different than that of others.
P.S. Ted, you are safe, angora (rabbit hair) makes me sneeze.

Oh, good, I was worried... This is a new totem for me, and I don't want to end up in the hasenpfeffer.

Umm...
Now I now have a Raccoon coming too. Thanks to the donor! The word must be out. Though I don't get the same warm fuzzy feeling from this species, they are amusing to watch. I've been outed by one or two when they catch me sitting in the deer stand.
I'll treat it kindly, and pass it to my father or uncle. I think we need to eat more frozen food, or I should start tanning tonight. There's no telling when somebody will hit a moose around here.
