I just wasn't sure whether kiltmakers would recommend trying with a polyester/wool blend for one's first attempt at making a kilt. Or whether I would be better advised buying some 100% wool (such as that offered on F&K's remnant page) instead.

Just expect to make mistakes and not find them until you are done. Or in my case, I am still finding mistakes in the first kilt I made. Never even noticed them until I made a few more. Simple things like the front apron has a bulge on the apron side... one of the pleat threads is coming out... I forgot to sew the apron fold to the apron... my pleats were too big and it never fit, too big... the interfacing I got was too light, didn't find out until after I finished my 5th kilt... White wasn't a good color for the lining... found some of my stitches for the lining and steaking were showing thru the kilt...
And that was just my first kilt!
