Well, somebody needs to shop at Harvie & Hudson.
Besides all the military surplus. I still wear a Navy Civil Defence Greatcoat from 1952 or 53 that I bought in 1976 for around $25. No problem with frugality as long as it looks good. Besides, I am not ready to splurge on a crombie, which is the closest I can come to the quality of that greatcoat.

All the "expensive" shirts in my closet come from Walmart. All the really good one though are from the Bargain Nook here in town (they have Duluth Trading shirts for as little as $3 a piece sometimes!).

Most of my clothes are gifts or come from thrift stores. The few exceptions are my Aloha shirts, which I got in Hawai'i, and my dress-up clothes, which I made sure were quality items (and thus pricey) before I got them (ever wondered how I became a Poor, Starving Student? Now you know).

All four of my kilt jacktets (all the way from a brown tweed to a tuxedo) are thrift store conversions.
I've gotten lots of shirts an sweaters, too.

Yes and no. I do have the duality but I'm not a fan of charity shops for shirts. Mostly it's to do with the sizing. With a 17 1/2" neck and a 38 (hopefully soon to be 36" again) waist few shirts fit correctly. SO my dress and formal shirts are mostly custom that I have made at a shop in Manhattan. On the other hand by button downs and many other shirts come from the like of Costco or BJ's. I particularly a fan of Costco's button downs. They are $14.99, come in individual sleeve lengths and are slim cut (probably to save on material costs). Not only are they a good buy but they fit rather well.
For summer shirts I am a big fan of t-shirts and polos from Foot Locker. At 5 for $20 for t-shirts and 3 for 20 for polos they are great for knocking around and when I feel they are looking less than crisp they go in the donation bag without me feelng as if I'm wasting money.
Now while I don't buy shirts at the charity shop/ church sales I am happy to look for jackets there as there are amazing finds. An example would be my brand new $800 overcoat that I found for $40. Turned out it was donated by the shop when they were getting rid of overstocks.

You know, I grew up wearing a lot of hand-me-downs. I have a hard time spending money on me, clothes especially. I always try to either find things at Old Navy, Wal-mart, etc, or look for clearances wherever I can. I will however, put my nickels in a jar and save for a kilt, the price of which depends on how patient I can be.

My company makes sure I have all the clothes I need to work in. Other than that, Walmart. Jeans go on sale and I get there real quick to get my size. I shop late in the season to get good deals. I am a cheap bastid when it comes to buying clothes. When Momma decides I need a new shirt, she buys it. She just never gets the right size. I do try to take good care of my clothing so it wil last more than a couple of weeks. I have shirts in my closet from the leisure suit era. I probably won't wear them. But I still have them, just in case. I broke down and bought a couple of Hula shirts and found out You can wear a shirt with the tail out. What a concept. Still hard for me to do. Tucked in looks neater. I was a slob for my first wife. Not this one.
