Jeez, sorry that happened for you Fox,
I only use the hangars, haven't tried the kit. But after meeting Joe Austin a couple times he seems like a stand up guy and I'm sure he'll make things right for you.

I picked up a kit with two extra hangers at the Prescott games a couple weeks ago. Nice rig, although I think the bag will be best suited for holding my kilts and jackets while in the closet more than for travelling. I am using the hangers with my kilts and jacket/waistcoat sets in my heavy duty garment bag for my trip to Scotland TODAY!!! Anyway, I got my set home from the games and discovered a broken hanger----yup, right at the joint with the black crossbar and extending into the cutout for the waistcoat---where we all thought there would likely be a weak spot. And that was before I had even used it. Good news is I called the company in LV and had a replacement in my hands within a week---no questions asked, other than my address. Good customer service. I will let you guys know how the hangers stand up to two weeks in Scotland, and give all a pictorial narrative of the trip when I get back.

I contacted Mr. Austin last night after posting here. He wrote back to me promptly expressing his distress and taking note of my feedback. He said as I thought, that plenty of 8 yarders have not had a similar experience as myself, with only 5 yards. He said he would send me another and try and beef up the hooks. If anybody else has had a similar experience, they should probably let him know. I can definately see owning more of this type of hanger but I want to feel confident that it will perform as intended. I'll post again when I receive the next one.

For over 25 years, I've been using this this type of hanger

for about the same reasons as given for the kilt kit hanger. In other words, I can hang a coat, vest, and the kilt on one hanger. It costs around US$9 from Amazon.com. That price is substantially less than the reviewed hanger for something which will last. My first one of these hangers came with a regular suit, but I thought the clamp worked far better with my kilt. I was attaching the kilt belt loops onto the clamp bar, but that can pull out the loops.
I only have "tanks", the heavy 8 yard kilts and this works very well. Quite frankly, these type of hangers are very substantial and doesn't have any "weak spots".
Absolutely, no problems whatsoever. Well, other than the clamp coming loose on one.
On the other hand, this bag is much nicer than the kilter. I thought the kilter would be organised more like this bag.

I've been looking at that, thanks Ron for the review, and everyone for the additional input. It's now on the list.

I too had been thinking of getting some of those kilts.
Your Dukeship, I'm wondering how you use that hanger combo you showed. The advantage of the one Ron showed was that it had multiple hanger parts to cover the whole kilt. Do you find that the trouser piece does as good a job for a 8-yard kilt?

The trouser clamp works well with the kilt. As I said, I would put the belt loops over it, especially with my heavy kilt. Although there are reasons to not do that: a bit hard on the loops or you don't have loops. I hook at least one loop around the clamp.
I then put the waistcoat/vest on after the kilt has been put in. Then the coat over that. The coat over the waistcoat/vest sounds like these would be similar. I would put the tie around the hook. You can't clip on the flashes the way Ron does since there is one big clip for the kilt.
The major advantages for the one I use is that it is less expensive and sounds a bit sturdier. The clip has been the only place I have had a problem in the 25 years I have been using them. And that was only on one hanger.
