    Some sites on sock blocker:

    http://antiques.search.ebay.com/_Ant...assZladybug007
    http://www.needletrax.com/blockers.htm
    https://www.yankeepostman.com/prodinfo.asp?number=493

I know the idea is to use these instead of the dryer but you should have a set around just in case.

With a little handy craft, which dos not seem to be in short supply with this group, you can make you own.

I've never had a problem with this. Mine will shrink in the wash, but then stretch back out to normal when I wear them.

Hot water plus agitation plus hot air and agitation = felting

Normally when you hand wash there is minimal agitation and therefore minimal felting. This felting can be broken when worn. Massive felting can't be undone.

Sorry, you brought back old memories of my mother-in-law trying to be "helpful" once (fortunately not with kilt hose). Needless to say she won't do that again

I've got a pair that I love that got shrunk too.
I thought they were a lost cause. Fortunately they are not felted, so I will try the wet & stretch method.
Thanks! This site is a wealth of knowledge
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

I have a red mesh bag that hangs on my laundry hamper tha I put wool into. My wife knows not to touch that bag if she does my laundry.

That sucks!!! I made that same mistake once (once was all it took). I now have a great pair of cream coloured hose that work really well scrunched down with boots

I tried to re-stretch them, but ended up buying a new pair.

So the opposite side of this question is has anyone successfully shrunk hose that got stretched out a bit too much?

I never tried to shrink anything - That goes counter to my entire life style.

Who in the world would ever want to shrink a piece of clothing?

Leave them in the closet, and they will shrink all by themselves! At least that's what happens for me.
