It's from The Scotland Yard. I own 7 of their kilts and the quality is amazing.

I noticed that the last kilt I ordered from them had almost the same problems, not to mention the wrong tartan.

So, I assume 6 of 7 were amazing eh? Sorry to hear of the troubles. That really does stink. Hope they'll make it right.

And it seems Steve Ashton at Freedom Kilts has been doing some tartan kiltwork of late.

Regardless of who you select to sew up your kilts, direct contact with the kiltmaker is the best way to keep the cost down, the miscommunication down, and the quality high.

Don't think Lochcarron sews up the kilts. Guessing they just make the fabric.

Can't beat dealing direct with your kiltmaker...and since you're west coast add www.kathyskilts.com to your list of possible kiltmakers.

Sorry to hear about that, hopefully they can supply you with a refund, I have had great experiences with both Matt and Barb, of course the kilts from these two makes are really two different animals on one hand a 4 yard box pleat, and on the other an 8 yard knife pleat, if you decide to go with either one you will no doubt get a wonderful garment that will bring you years of wear.

I don't think there will be a problem with a refund/return, I've been with this company for 7 years and have referred dozens of people to them - they've even stated that I was one of their best customers.

Yes, I've heard so many great things about Matt and Barb. Now.. I just need to decide on the type of kilt I want first.

I have talked with the good folks at The Scotland Yard, they have reviewed everything, and they are going to replace the kilt with one of the same quality as I have been receiving from them over the years. It seems that their rental kilts are machine-stitched and the person who makes them ended up making my tank instead of the person who makes the hand-sewn kilts. So, problem solved. These folks are great

This is an amazing story. These folks look quite professional. I wonder if this is common with kilt dealers in general; that they will simply replace a kilt on demand !

I know that Stillwater Kilts and USA Kilts provide outstanding customer service. I'm not sure about other companies as I've only dealt with a select few. That's one of the many benefits of these boards.. you end up learning who will treat you right.
