That's a neat thing to do.... But you know, the kilt just isn't for everyone. On the Panama cruise that I went on, I remember a gent who wore his tartan everyday in some manner or other, tie, hat, vest, shorts - but never a kilt! He said it just wasn't for him.
I made a kilt for a local Scot transplant, that never had one. Figuring out how was easy, he was wearing fairly new jeans with the backside label (Think Levis) that display the sizes for all to see. Knowing how the same size and style sat on my hips lead to some simple math, then Barb's Book. A month later the tartan arrived from Scotland and my fingers got to work. Three weeks later, his wife presented him with a kilt to wear to a dinner with my family. She also decided the answer for the question well in advance. He He He. BTW, the kilt fit very well, and he wears it often. Thinks its the best thing his wife has ever done.
