Thank you all,
I'd like to get some feedback on my next idea.
My dream dress sporran, aside from my full mask Grey Fox: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/c...37/index7.html
is something similar to this one with a black Elk leather cantle/top and a silver Fox fur bag. I have those two materials here, but I want to repeat something like this leather braid using wire, and my electroplating kit. I've tried thin brass and copper wire, but I'm having difficulty lacing it w/o crimping the wire.
Have any of you 'woven' or 'knitted' wire before? How did it work?
Cheers,
Kevin.

Years ago I braided a wire hat band using a flat wide braid out of copper wire that I had stripped out of some used electrical romex. The key for me was soft leather gloves and slow bends, pulling the wire really tight as I completed each row. I just went in seach of that hat-band, and can't find it, but I do remember the effort.

Howdy all,
Just back from a BNI meeting this AM.
I offered a challenge to our group for next week- a free dinner to the man or woman who brings the oldest article of clothing or footwear that they still use.
I'll be giving a presentation on the differences between natural fibers and synthetics, so having a few other examples of long lived garments should prove useful.
Here's a new pic. I apologize for the button down and the silk tie. I wore a white oxford and eggshell hose this AM, but the colors washed out the excellent tonality of the remaining pieces. I'll need to track down a good oxford shirt to coordinate and make a nice wool tie. I did indeed lose the backing for my kilt pin somewhere in the lawn. <sigh>

We're trying to determine which is older, the argyle or our peonies.
<end note- remove antler fob from drawstring- I sound like a snare drum when walking>
Cheers,
Kevin.
