It's the automatic spelling program on Iphone. Hitting the space accepts the suggested spelling. I've sent a few funny things myself. Can't wait to get my pig from a dead guy in Mexico.

    First off,

I feel so dumb. I was using my pastor's Iphone and I didn't know that it said that after I clearly typed KILTED...

I am so so so so so sorry.

and now that I have your attention...

    I got pictures!

ok so this is going to be a long post.
My first pic is me standing on my mission field. that is the dessert of Juarez', Mexico. you can see that I am kilted, but you can see more importantly the trash and the nothingness.

My second pic is a funny one. this is my 3rd trip with the same organization down to Juarez' and I kilted one night last year too. well I had a person come again on the trip with me who said it was time to step out and try something wild. so he spent a night wearing my Utilikilt. and he wants to buy a tartan now because he loved it so much.

Next is me with the music director/organist from my church who is a good friend of mine and had never been camping. he was totally out of his comfort zone and it was good.

Next is my "small group" all the youth from my church that are the same year as me. I've been with these guys now 3 times to Mexico.

Next, A couple of wonderful lasses wanted to get in on the kilted action so they could take it home and prove to their parents that they know a real kilt wearer.

Next, this is one of my favorites, we stayed each night in an orphanage that was run by a husband and wife who are the nicest and most loving people in the world. this a pic of the kilters and Armando with the children.

and finally, Armando's wife wanted to get a few pictures with her phone to send to some family, but she wanted it to be with the kids.

now I want you to look really closely at the kilt belt I am wearing. I wore a kilt last year when I went down and I played with one of the children for 3 or 4 hours. its the little girl in the red shirt. when she saw me this year as soon as we got out of the vans she ran up to me and hugged me. I was wearing my Utilikilt at that time. she asked me if I still liked to wear skirts and I laughed and told her "all the time" (todos por horas). On my last night there she comes up to me at dinner and hands me that belt wrapped in tissue paper. she had been working on it since I got there. she had apparently had Armando go and get some different colored yarns and she weaved it all by hand. its the most beautiful belt I've ever had. it fits my kilt wonderfully. the best part is it matches 100%. It left me in tears. This little girl was orphaned at 5 years old she's 11 now. I was so sad and happy at the same time. So I took off my kilt pin at the end of the night after we had played on the swingset for a few hours, and I gave it to her to remember me. she hugged me and didn't want to let go. she right away pinned it to her shirt. I almost died again. If I could have smuggled 1 person over the border it would have been her in a heart beat.

Now that I've said all that. I don't want to talk religion at all on this post. I'd really just like to share those pics with you all. if you want to talk religion then I will gladly talk over email or PMs.

    ~Casey

That is a fabulous belt -- I noticed it in the first close-up picture and am glad you told the story behind it! Tell your little friend she probably has a ready-made business selling them on X-Marks. And good on you and your group for the work you do.

Great belt, what a treasure, a true spiritual gift from the heart.

On the commercial side - if you could get those belts woven up in colors to match tartans I'll bet there'd be a market for them for the Juarez weavers...wonder what, if any, import complications you'd have. Guessing you could get a stack of initial orders right now off your post here.

So, what do they call a kilt along the borderlands? Know the formal Castillian is falda Escotia - Scottish skirt - but guessing the borderland Mexican Spanish has a cooler, less formal word???

And dang lad, weren't you a tad toasty in Juarez in July with a cap and kilt hose on??

Never mind that you triggered some memories in this olde geezer of some time in Juarez in 1965...I was on a mission too...but I can guarantee it was no religious mission...nuf said there....

Background in some of those shots looks a lot like rezlands up this way...Third World stuff. Good on you for your service.

Let us have a moment of silence for our young kilted friend Casey...

    What? He's not dead?

What's that Colin? You mean I should read the the thread?

From the title I thought this just should Casey's dedication to the forum, "Hi guys I died kilted while on a trip and thought I'd post a few pictures before stepping into the light..."

    Cheers
