Congratulations, Paul!
You both certainly look very smart but, forgive me for saying this, I should have thought tweed jackets just a little informal perhaps for the event - but then, it all depends what it states on the invitation nowadays.
In spite of what Alex says (and I have never heard that before, Alex), I was invited - and accepted - three times to Her Majesty's Garden Parties during my working career. Once because of my work and twice because of my aquaintance with Her Majesty and Princess Diana. Admittedly, that was back in the 1980s, but the dress code then was Morning Dress (tail suit and grey top hat) or Service Uniform. I had to opt for the former!
The only kilts I recall seeing there, and there were very few, were being worn as military uniforms. I would imagine that kilts would mostly be worn to Her Majesty's Scottish Garden Parties, held at the Palace of Holyrood House.
I am intrigued, Paul: were you presented to HM, or any other member of the Royal Family? Not everyone who is invited actually gets to 'press the flesh'!
Well done.
Take care,
Ham.

Very nice indeed. I especially like the close up photo of your cuff and sporran. It's worthy of a catalogue!

Oh well, you won't be able to use the saying now "I'd have more chance of having tea with the Queen". Well presented.

What an honour to be invited.Like Hamish,I was thinking that a tweed Argyll was dessing down a wee bit.I would have expected, wrongly it seems, a black barathea, silver buttoned Argyll to be worn. They were in my day.Still, I live and learn.

Jock and Hamish,
I wasn't sure myself, but i took advice, and we were perfectly fine. There a reasonable scattering of morning dress, but all with black top hats:although that may have been due to the various Gentlemen attendants, but what surprised me was the number of rather ordinary suits, and even brown ones... ( never brown in town , came to mind) The few other kilts were a mix of blues and greens, but there was one IOS with a lovely green tweed argyll.
I'm sure the dress code has adjusted to a more individual level, which to me is a good thing I think!
