Sporran straps
I got a leather one from Higgins when I bought my kilt and the quality seems good. Only problem is that it is a bit long though. I normally too, would have made my own, but as I was also getting a kilt, kilt belt and crested buckle, I seemed to just make sense. When I was younger, and much thinner, I found that the chain tends to chafe the wool fabric, hence when I ordered a new kilt, I added the leather sporran strap. I have worn it a lot, and the kilt shows no wear at that point. (Amazing how kilts can shrink whilst hung in a closet, isn't it?

There are many good vendors out there but these are the ones I have and highly recommend them.

This is cool! I can read all these reviews of places I've been thinking of buying from. I'm going with oconee too for a sporran strap. I'll get my kilt belt there as well.

I'm not sure which ones I like the best. Donnie from wyvernleatherwoks or the braided ones I have from RKILTS. You can't go wrong either way.

These are not the most economical, but probably some of the best out there. Haven't bought one yet myself, want some of his sporrans also.

I have a brown and black sporran strap from J Higgins. They are three years old and going strong for this daily kilt wearer. If they ever "give up the ghost" I may buy something fancier - but then again...
Cheers!

I don't know about how it would work out for you, but I went ahead and got a bunch of those ladies super-thin leather belts and they work perfect as leather sporran straps.
They all cost about 50p each from a charity shop.

I was going to say the same thing. I paid a whole $.50 you can get a whole mess of colors for that price.

Try Graem Niven at Az kilts: he had said the same thing to me about swapping from chains to leather straps
