    The Perfect Tartan

I'm going to go ahead and put this link to Barb T.'s thread "Highland Granite kilt" because her description got me almost all of the way toward picking this tartan.

One of the reasons it's a perfect tartan for me is that it has a tweed-like marl. I've posted many times about considering a tweed kilt to avoid the clan tartans and my craving for tweed. So this fulfills my need for tweed and several other things like that.

Now I need to come up with a pile of money.

Thanks. Well this is so clearly the right tartan for me that I can just focus on this one kilt and scratch off everything else on the wish list. Hmmm, Tewkesbury kilt perhaps...

In another thread I posted that I need to add a few items like hose to a dayware outfit I have been putting together to complete it. After that, I will be reserving any kilt money toward a traditional kilt in the Highland Granite tarten. I think I will plan on an eight yard knife pleated kilt made by one of the US kiltmakers. Probably pleated to the set... Not sure how long this will take, but for now I have the two StillWater kilts and the Buz Kidder to enjoy.

When I get pictures, I'll start a thread on the daywear outfit.

    Guess that's that.

Just to bring everything up to date, I think I have decided on the tartan to follow the Highland Granite... The brown based tartan I talked about. That will probably be a long ways off though. At least I don't have to worry about deciding on a tartan anymore.

    Oh the Drama!!

I found some options for the rest of the outfit, eveningwear outfit, to go with a Highland Granite tartan. That would be the Eton jacket along with three button waistcoat. Here's the thread, but realize that I probably won't go with the cheapest options. It's the concept of the Eton or mess jacket that I am looking at here.

campbell's thread"Cheap Formal Suit and Tie"

I will eventually look for a black argyll, however, I realized that I can start building that outfit with the Nightstalker while I am saving up for the traditional, and the Eton can be dressed down just a bit with five button waistcoat or just a four-in-hand tie. I think this is the right way to go. Anyway, I will need that link in the future. That just leaves sporran options to be explored.

Ted, I'm curious as to what tartan you are referring to when you say brown?
