Did you make it? If so, howsebout a tutorial? Also a source for the "safety pin" kilt pins. I used to see pins of that (or larger) size used on horse blankets. Any relation one to the other?

That is a beautiful pin, and an excellent idea. New ideas.. I love 'em.

No, our own Phil Corlis makes them. His handle is pdcorlis.

Firstly, I must confess to Phil that the "kilt" in that photo is actually a swatch of Iowa tartan.
The "Rob Roy" Flypin is certainly a thing of beauty. It's beauty is in its simplicity, as you can see. I could write a lengthy review, but there's no need. Some of you have already summed it up nicely:
Beware of walking too close to a stream of trout.
That looks really sharp, try to avoid the temptation to use it the next time you are walking along a stream and see signs of trout.
I love kilt pins with their own individual style, and this is one of the most unique I have ever seen.
I have always identified with the author Norman Maclean, because his family's history reminds me of my own -- his father, the Rev. John Maclean, reminds me a great deal of my grandmother, especially in her Presbyterian faith. This pin reminds me of her and my family's love for Roaring River State Park in SW Missouri. To quote Maclean:
"I am haunted by the waters".
I hope Phil won't mind me posting his Flypin page: http://www.pbase.com/pdcorlis/flypin.
Thanks, Phil!
Todd

I can personally attest to the fact the "Eire" looks amazing on the "Irish National"

"And beneath it all, a river runs through it." Words to live, nymph, and dry fly fish by. I need to "git sum" for my Pride of Scotland and my Irish National.
Just outside of Steamboat Springs near the Yampah River

Hey Carolina Kiltman
You can find the "Officers Safety Pin" kilt pin at SWK and they are relatively inexpensive. Nice work Phil.
