Well, you can't blame the window dressers ignorance. Anyone with common sense when presented with a kilt for the first time would put the pleats to the front so they wouldn't rumple when sat upon.
I continue to maintain, common sense puts the apron at the back for sitting pleasure and protection...it just makes sense...

They're the "Chris Cross" of the Kilt world! HAHAHA... (anyone who gets that is just as sad as I am)
I'll let you know when we get a hold of them. We left a message for the guy in JC who bought the kilts from us.
The problem is, we don't know if they did this by accident (I hope / assume) or if they're trying to make a fashion statement or if it was just a store employee who did it wrong...

I laughed once at the reference, and then again at the parenthetical! Thanks Rocky, and congrats on having your wonderful kilts on display, even if they are a bit "off kilter"

Hey Guys, Kelly here.....
I think I am the one who probably has to apologize for this. I was the one who made them; it was supposed to by a 'hybrid' version of our mini kilts and casuals, and the stylist at Juicy that I was working with on this project really did not now anything about kilts - more or less just described an idea of what he wanted and this is what we came up with. Supposed to be something fun for the college crowd, I believe. I totally forgot to mention to him that the pleats go in the back, as I always assume those who order a kilt already know that. I got in contact with him today to let him know.
Unfortunatley, I do not think that dropping into the store and showing the employees the correct way to wear it will make the difference, as it is the stylists who do the mannequins. Trying to take care of the problem from this end....... I thank you all for helping us with this! If any of you do get there to take more pics, please send them along, as I know this will be the only chance to have anything I ever made on 5th AVE in NYC!!!
I really don't think there are any apologies needed on your part Kelly, er Rocky, er Kelly. The manikins wearing the kilts backwards was not your fault. The kilts are quite nice still.
I did go by the store, and I asked very nicely about the kilts. I said that I really liked the display, but that the kilts were on "wrong", they said that they had their "creative people" who do that. I also said that a Scot would be offended by the way they are displayed.
That was just about all I said.......
Again, being creative in this way (by dressing them any old way) is like dressing a manikin in Lederhosen backwards, and makes the kilt not an alternative to pants, but a Costume, because there is no "Proper style".
The store again is quite nice, and there would really be no different reaction to the display if the kilts were properly worn.
I think that is the attitude that needs to be addressed.
Hopefully I helped. I was not critical or attacking the store or the window dresser, but I stated what I feel needs to be said. It is October, and if I can keep them from making the kilt look like a "costume", I will.
I walk by there daily, and will let you know of any changes!
