Dress for the occasion! If it is a semi-formal, no need for a Prince Charlie, an argyle or even a tweed should do nicely. By all means wear the kilt, I will.

As for the heathens (non-kilted) :butt: I agree with Nighthawk.

Wear your Kilt, put your thing down and have a good time. Don't sweat what hasn't and may not happen.

Hope your lady friend and you enjoy the new year, and she gets to see you in your kilt.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Naturally, having the SD in the kilthose is not a good plan when in a situation like that. I am sure there are laws about such things.

I will have to check on what venues are available for that night. I expect most folk to be respectful. But really, I havent seen my friend for a long time and i want ther eto be no hassles while still accomodating her wishes.

I guess I never really thought much about someof the minor problems with going kilted in some places. I would imagine some places like clubs would be pretty smokey and that cant be good for kilts.

Worry not, most people I've run into in these many years kilted on New Years think it's cool. You'll get looks, an occasional comment maybe.
    Ain't no big deal.
I don't have an option, I'm expected kilted or else.

New Year is a great time to be kilted - go for it.

This is how I see it. On one hand you have a lady friend who wants to see you in a kilt On the other hand is a drunk; presumably a guy because ladies don't usually have a huge problem with a kilt

    Lay Friend...........Drunk Guy

Being a dude, I'd go with the lady
