When I was in the corporate game I wore the required uniform, wool suits and silk ties. On more than one occasion I was informed that kilts were not on the allowed list. Now I wear a kilt when I want.

I wear a kilt about 4 days a week. I think it is a good ratio. Sometimes pants are more appropriate, sometimes kilts are better!

Since I find jackets almost as uncomfortable as trousers, I rarely wear one. A sporran is more of a nuisance than an asset, a sgian dhu is mere decoration, like a tie. I'm not keen on t-shirts, so i usually have a traditional plain shirt. Just because wear a kilt rather than leg tubes, I don't feel I have to adopt 19th century garb for the rest of my wardrobe.
Like Sephy, I wear my kilt for comfort (and vecause I think it looks nice, too).
But I am retired from work, so it is of course easier for me to do as I wish.

I've been wearing the kilt almost daily since 2005. It depends on the occasion and what I'm doing.

I wear a kilt almost every day, with a sporran if I'm wearing a traditional kilt, with no sporran if I'm wearing a non-trad kilt with cargo pockets.

Well now, I have not worn trousers for 9½ years (and have not owned any for about 8½), but then I have been retired for just over 10 years so, as Martin finds, it is easier than for those still working.

Because I was a Senior Manager (General Manager in fact) of the Company for over 30 years it would not have been possible for me to wear anything other than a pin-stripe suit whilst at work. However, after I retired, I was offered the chance of returning to the Company for two months on a part-time consultancy basis (I like to think they could not manage without me ) - and I wore the kilt every day! Sometimes it was a traditional kilt with some of the accessories, and sometimes it was a Utilikilt with useful pockets.

I understand perfectly that Companies have a right to expect their employees to dress to certain standards, especially if in contact with the public, but when I returned my job carried no title, I was not likely to be meeting the public and anyway, I was not an employee - so I dressed for comfort.

    Take care,
    Ham.

I wear a kilt daily, even for work.

Been doing it for what...3-4 months now?

Best thing I've ever done. Except proposing to my wife, of course.

I regularly wear a kilt to work (teaching college students about theatrical scenery and lighting). However it depends on my tasks -- due to our current production being way behind and me working on it (crawling under, over, around with tools and paint brushes) every spare minute, I have been living in my paint jeans for the last two weeks. I don't have to go under today, but may still have to go over, so I'm in pants... my students seem to miss my kilts -- Monday they go back on!

Oh, when I'm freelance designing I'm often in kilts -- though again, it depends on what tasks I'm doing. Standing atop a ladder might be scary to those under me

    Cheers
    Chris
