Knitting: my new addiction

No, I'm not on Ravelry, although I do surf through it occasionally.
I'm trying to figure out how to post a picture of my red kilt hose, but I'mnot having any luck. Ideas?

Here's a couple of ways:

(1) post it in your album here on XMTS and copy and paste the IMG code shown below the pic. the album on here has a limitation of 60 pics , though.

(2) join photobucket, upload your pic there and when you see the thumbnail of the photo, mouse over the pic and you'll see a set of codes below, click on the last one esp for forums and boards -- it starts with IMG, copy and paste to your xmts posting.

Seriously though, very nice socks. I'm impressed by people who just go ahead and learn how to do things, and then do them well!

I never did learn how to knit. Maybe someday, when I'm retired and not working 12 hour days (like today).

Hi all. Just wanted to update my knitting addiction thread.

A friend requested a scarf that's really long (so he can fold it in European style) so I made one, over xmas:

Wool-Ease wool blend, color= cranberry,
2 x 2 rib, my own scarf pattern
92 inches loooong by 4 inches wide (fringe adds extra 8")

I do. I'm working on the Drurey kilt hose right now. but I just saw some really terriffic scarves at our local latte house, so I'm thinking I might start next year's Christmas gifts early.

You are doing so well, multicolors and cable pattern stitches will come easily for you. I can see wonderful things in your future.

Here's my "Skinny Ribs" cranberry red scarf that a friend requested: It's 92 inches looong of 2 x 2 ribbing!!

Learn to Knit on Circle Looms (Loom Knitting) by Denise Layman,
and
Learn New Stitches on Circle Looms (Loom Knitting) by Anne Bipes.

The first one does explain knitting socks, but I don't know if it would work for hose. Guess it would work for flashes though.

Ted, I prefer to knit socks and hose (what's the singular of kilt hose?) on double-pointed needles. I think they're faster and easier than the loom, but if that's what gets somebody started making things with their hands instead of buying things from a store, then I'm all for it.

It would most certainly work for kilt hose.

Like I read somewhere, kilt hose are just socks with a thyroid problem.

If the book shows you how to make socks, then you can adapt it to make kilt hose.... But without a specific hose pattern, you'll need to learn how to decrease or increase (depending on direction of knitting, cuff down or toe-up.) The calf is much bigger than the ankle, so there must be shaping).
