So says the man wearing flipflops in his avatar! I was wondering if any one would pick up on that when I posted my reply. You would have made a good fireman they always pick up on stuff like that.

Yes they do, unfortunately. Most of the time, they look fine. Most of the time; not all of the time.

I think the boots look fine, but I would prefer it with the hose scrunched down. I'd also probably use straight (bar) lacing instead of criss-cross or over-under lacing. I just think it looks sharper. To me, the former looks awful on boots.

Whenever I wear my hiking boots (Vasque Zephyr GTX, no longer made now ), I tend to scrunch down the hose.

Of course, that's my 0.02 USD worth. Wear yours as you see fit. I would think that if you wore your hose up, you would wear some flashes, too. Again, my personal opinion.

    Take care and be well,

Gentlemen, much appreciation for your thoughts and opinions.

I think I'll need to practice how to cleanly scrunch the hose down. I think I prefer that style, especially with short sleeves.

As for using boots, I like its rugged look but I want to be able to dance in them as well -- country/western dance mostly, and square dancing. Ropers combine these features that I like.

    Thanks again!

I am confused about the hose "scrunched down" thing ? If I am wearing proper kilt hose, why would I want to do that to them ? And then there's no place for me knife.

I wear kilts with shoes, and with boots (usually Danner lace-up combat style boots) and frequently in the summer with moccasins, and I don't really care what people think about it, much. If I was worried about what other people thought, I would be someone else.

Comparing the scrunched/folded down look vs full length, in the black roper boots, when your housemate tells you that your pale blue hose at full length looks "dorky" - 'nuff said - you reconsider.

Not that it would look dorky on everybody, it just looked dorky in my specific case. It's case to case, I suppose.

    Folded down vs scrunched

I folded it down instead of scrunching. The particular hose I was using didn't lend itself well to scrunching.

    So here's what I did ---

So, for comfort flip flops trump shoes and boots, eh?
