What I don't like (or hate, but to strong a word) is the lack of hoses. When I se a guy in kilt and barefoot, it takes some of the masculinity from the kilt.

I think garter flashes are a pretty useless appendage, and only wear them for dressy occasions. A decorative vestige of a time when hose garters were worn. with the advent of elastic, there's no need for them.

I hope this thread doesn't turn into a "I hate seeing this on other people" judgemental sort of a thread and more of a "I won't wear a ******* because I dislike them/it on myself." kind of thread.
The first, being rather potentially combative, whereas the second......isn't.
Take this a s a gentle nudge, and if you prefer "dislike" to "hate" then good on ye. I strongly dislike black kilt hose on MYSELF.

I don't hate much but I can't see myself in period garb - period. If I'm going to be real honest, I can live without a sgian dubh most days as well.

I don't like to wear white hose.
I really dislike the look of those little round torries, so I've cut them off all my balmorals.
And I can't say I particularly like those really long laces on ghillie brogues.
Other than that, it's all good!

Still cannot stand a kilt belt, I'll wear a vest or sweater or just plain do without.

strongly dislike
Ghillies, they remind me of my Dad's work shoes.
Fly plaids cuz they serve no purpose for me.
Hose without flashes (since I have very few of them) but I likes my black hose better than the other colors .. well maybe the same as the blue ones.

I for one strongly dislike the concept that dressy must = fur. Would really prefer if there were more non-leather options as well. I also strongly dislike being judged as "not formal enough" because my sporrans don't have fur, but maybe another point for another time.
Actually... hate is a strong word. Strong enough I'd say. I hate fur items!!!
And I'd also have to say, and this depends on what day you catch me, I can often not be a fan of wearing something up on my waist. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Mind you, my waist is a bit..... rounder than I'd like. I guess I just need a kilt or two that is cut at jeans waist.
