The absolute easiest is at a highland games/Scottish festival; lots of kilted men, plus it's recognized as "normal" by other people. Other fairly easy places can include nice restaurants (if you dress appropriately as far as the rest of your outfit) and church, if you attend one (and providing that your particular flavor of worship doesn't preclude the kilt.)

I went to my parents' house first. Mom turned red. Dad grinned. The next time, my brother and I went to a comic book store. Interested looks from the patrons. Interested in a good way.

If all the replies thus far seem boring and mundane, then a visit to a redneck bar (kilted of course) is in order.

What would be a good first time place to go kilted? Rather simply really - ANYWHERE!
Remember, only wear it on days that end with Y.

I agree. I've never had a negative comment or problem. I would never expect one. I get the usual from friends at parties or such - What clan? Is it comfortable? What do you have on under there? Nice skirt. ....
Never a comment or issue from anyone unknown to me. Just the usual glances. Go for it and have fun.

Well the in-laws will be out because, I will never get maried again. LOL but the store sounds great. I stay on the road alot so I really don't know anyone elsee that wears kilts. But I will look into the local Scottish/Caledonian/St. Andrew's Society.
So what you all saying is to get kilted and go for it right? LOL But don't go to a pub for the first time.
Thanks
