It does look like a fine jacket. However there are a few places that have been offering this type of "modren" (no fancy cuffs or epaulets) jacket for some time.

Go for it, Rex! You know you want one!

And on the other topic, I always leave the bottom button of my waistcoat undone... Just in case.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Thanks a lot, Steve. My list of needed kilt items has just gotten longer with no possibility of getting anything on the list in sight.

That's a beautiful jacket and vest and I love the color. Oddly enough I am just starting a brown jacket conversion (with hopes of Bob wearing it in Palm Springs April 4) and, for expediency, was considering more "modern" flap and cuff treatment. . . thanks for legitimizing my extemporizing!
Would you see this jacket worn, without the vest, with an open-collar shirt? Or is that just too casual?

In my opinion, any time the top button is unbuttoned the outfit is casual. However, it sounds like a great 'smart casual' look.

Beautiful jacket and vest Steve. I think its wonderful when all things kilted can take an evolutionary step forward.
Respect the past, imagine the future, and live in the present.

Steve a very nice jacket. What I would call casual dress up as compared to formal. Like a very nice business suit as compared to a Tux for formal wear.
And my budget wish list just got longer.
If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

I especially like the vest. I'm thinking I can afford a vest far sooner than the jacket or combo, and dress up the kilt significantly! I can't think of the last time I needed to wear a "suit" to anything either.
Thanks for the new choice!
