Have fun, medic! (and tell Duncan and everyone Christopher and Cynthia said "hi")
*sniffle* My hubby really wanted to throw out there this year (so did I, although I can't remember if they have a women's category), but sadly due to some medical stuff we had to hold off for this year. Bummer. It was such fun practicing with the group -- I had been looking forward to competing. Dublin was going to be our first Games. Ah well....
Now, here's hoping hubby doesn't get sick again this year so we can actually stay longer at the TSF! (poor guy... he tried so hard to tough it out last year, but he was feeling so awful we had to cut it short).

I wonder what weather to expect for this festival! Regardless, the scotch tasting is indoors.

Regarding the Scotch tasting, remember that "indoors" is a tent. I did not go into it last year but it could be stifling on a hot Texas afternoon. Nevertheless, this year after my clan tent duties are over I shall indulge.

In a TENT?!? Things have changed since I was there just a few years ago. I know TSF could be blistering hot, inundatingly rainy, and/or windy like a hurricane.

I was only out there briefly last year, but I saw it in the tent, too. I've never been before, so that was my first year. We didn't do the tasting since Christopher was feeling horrible and we ended up leaving early to get him home to rest.
It was really hot. I managed to get a nice sunburn on my neck/shoulder where I missed putting sunscreen. Ugh. That's one thing I HATE about living here NOT a "sunny/hot" weather fan. Blech.

Cynthia, I got a sunburn at San Antonio weekend before last. I'll remember to bring the sunblock and a broadbrimmed hat for TSF. I may have to rethink the scotch-tasting. I would think the samples would evaporate by the time it is to tipple.

I have some cute sun hats a friend of mine gave me. I've been wanting to add a nicer band (maybe one of the blue colors in the Xmarks tartan) of fabric and attach the XMTS Clan badge to it. I would love to get a dandelion, but I'm not sure I'll have time before then (other things I need to focus on first). It will not only help other Xmarkers find me (I don't own any of the XMTS tartan yet), but it'll keep that darned sun off my poor face! Since hubby most likely won't wear a balmoral (although I can't blame him in that heat if he didn't want to wear one that day), I figure one of us should wear the badge since we bought it.
I have no clue if I'll bother with the SWK Thrifty kilt though. That acrylic is just too hot for me. Hopefully Christopher will wear his kilt although it depends on if he has lost too much weight by then. I have no idea how else we'll stand out -- I'm not sure if I even want to leave my hair down in a braid to help people find me. I'm sure we'll stop by your Clan tent at some point, so we'll be able to say hi for a little while at least.
edited to add: And oh yeah, I'm not sure if we'll do any scotch tastings, much less drink anything but water. Eek. I guess we'll just have to watch what the weather is doing and play things by ear.
(at least, I HOPE we'll be able to go and stay for a while this year)

This will be my first trek back to TSF in a few years and am eager to go back! I do hope that you and Chris make it to the MacIntyre tent.
