The problem with cord is that it is almost always Cotton. So wrinkling is an issue.

Your idea of a 5 yard is good. An 8 yarder is almost impossible because of the thickness of the fabric. You can't get it under the pressure foot of the machine.

A Box-Pleat Cord looks pretty good. Do you have access to some fabric you like?

Love pin wail, but the somewhat wider cord, like used for pants, can be nice too; just not the giant cord. I even like the no-wale cord without the gruves. I understand about the thickness. For some reason, I kind of like the wider pleat reviel on those kinds of non-tartan contemporary kilts.

Actually, I don't have good access to any fabric stores at this time. There is a huge, huge fabric wearhouse on the other side of town, though, and perhaps I will plan a trip to look at all the different fabrics there sometime over the next few months.

Guess I'm just exploring things in my mind, and get ideas stuck. I did, though, want to be a clothing designer when I was a little kid.

    * Thinking over this, I do need to keep my focus on the tartan kilt. That will be a special kilt for me, then maybe I can look at other types of kilts. *

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
