Here are some pics from sport kilts website of guys on bikes.

Id always worry about dirt flying up on my backside and all over my kilt. I am over protective of my kilts and would freak out to much if I got any dirt on one.

That's actually pretty cool. Maybe this year I'll wear some cycling shorts under my kilt and do a pleated STP (Seattle to Portland).

For one, we are talking about a bicycle, not a motorized one, all man power. And its not a roadbike either, its a mountain bike with dual suspension, so it is somewhere in between the others in terms of middle bar height. I think it should be able to hang a good deal and be able to exert some downwards pressure on it. As for the chain, it is halfway between my ankle and knee , so there is a good bit between them, so i think i will be fine there.

And i like the idea of the modesty fastener, it might be my best option. And i like the idea of just being my own man, but i like to be alive and in a relationship...

Unless you want skinned knees, better invest in some knee pads.

Not exactly a mountain bike, nor even a "road bike." This is my 1974 Raleigh Superbe, my secondary commuter rig (my primary is a 1996 Ryan Vanguard recumbent):

The kilt in the picture is a UK Workmans model. I ride like that from time to time, and have no issues with "wardrobe malfunctions."
