Excellent! And, very timely as well. I was debating whether I wanted to take the time to visit Fort George while staying in Inverness in July. Now I know I want to make that visit!

Ah fort George, spent three years posted there, brings back both memories and nightmares. Now the town of Ardersier well that's another story!!!!!!!

It does give us a visual insight into the English mind to keep the Scots subjugated. Or correspondingly maybe their fear they would rise again. Thanks for the pix, Chris.

I could not agree more with ya. This is definitely on the itinerary now. I have been looking for new things to see and do while in Scotland this summer and this looks terrific.

Great pictures there Chris.I would give Fort George a "must see" label. For those visiting, a word of advice, you will not see anything like that at Fort Augustus or Fort William there are virtually no fortifications to see. There is Inverlochy castle at Fort William, but that is from an earlier time.Other things yes, forts no.

If you don't mind, British minds not English. The Scottish and English crowns unified in 1603 and the Scottish and English parliaments unified in 1707.
