Ah, but Jamie, when you come up we have arranged for everyone to be on Vacation and everything closed. In fact we are trying to get them to close the entire city.
Think Charelton Heston walking down 5th avenue with grass growing up through the pavement. Sort of like that but instead here we'll have dandelions.

Glad you enjoyed Victoria. I've spent a day there 30 years ago and have always wanted to go back.

Wow, those gardens are jaw-droppingly beautiful.
I need to make another trip out to the PNW, and this time not miss Victoria!
Thanks for sharing the photolog.

Rex.

Beautiful photos, Brian, and the gardens are just spectacular.
I spent a day in Victoria back in August 2005 whilst spending two amazing weeks in Vancouver, mainly with our good friend Raphael and his family. A single day is very obviously not long enough to spend over on Vancouver Island, nor in Victoria itself, but it was long enough for me to meet some fine people and to spend a few hours with Steve, both at his former shop and at locations around the city including, of course, the excellent Royal BC Museum. I clearly remember Steve taking us for afternoon tea at one of those traditional 'places not to be missed' but whose name has escaped me. It was on Government Street, I believe. Gorgeous!
We did not get as far as the Butchart Gardens, of course, but your photos convey much of the atmosphere and colour of the place. Thank you.
Take care,
Ham.

Beautiful photos. It's been forty years since I visited the island. Even though it was overcast when we visited, the Butchart Gardens were absolutely fantastic. I would love to spend time there on a clear spring day. Thanks for posting.

I'll be there for square dancing and tattoos [Haida] in a couple years if not before. Now I know some other sights to look for. Thanks for sharing!
