WOW! I am blown away as to how amazing this band is! I can't stop listening to it, and because it's "live" it's even more powerful than what they crank out in a recording studio.
I'm sure most of the rabble here need no introduction to this amazing band, but if you haven't heard, you might wanna get this cd. Makes me wanna kilt up right now!
ALBANNACH performed at the Inverness Hogmanay Gig that I organised here in Inverness and I have some great pictures of them in action - I have booked them to perform at the Inverness Highland Games on July 18th and 19th

Ok, that seriously looks like it would be a kicka... er... kickbutt festival.

David Ross and Albannach are going to be at Rockahock on October 2 and 3 for the Williamsburg Scottish festival once again. I'll definitely be there, even if I have to make it a one day trip.

The Mighty Nach will be at the New Hampshire Highland Games Sept 18, 19, 20. The people in Lincoln, NH - 14 miles away really enjoy their music rolling down the valley at them from high on Loon Mountain. This Misfit will be there in his Albannach tartan wool great kilt.
Nothing like being there. Or real close.

I have seen them live quite a few times, even been drinking with them. If you like them, you should also check out Tartanic. They are from out west, but they played at our Scottish Festival at the beginning of the month.

From the look of their website, Tartanic disbanded.
To the Fans of Tartanic:
The ship has sailed, and we’re on our way to the Promised Land: for some that’s Tahiti, others Reno, and for others it’s back on the road to pursue personal endeavours.
Bottom Line: Tartanic has finally come to port at Davie Jones' Locker.
Jack Black once asked, “Is it better to burn out or fade away?” Well, we’ve lit the wick and walked away to watch the fireworks (not like we could ever see them at TRF). Our only hope is that we won’t drown to the raspy noise of a string quartet. If I were playing violin on the Titanic as I watched life boats fade away into the night sea, my last line would not be, “Gentlemen, it’s been a real pleasure.” Instead, I'd probably say, "I call shotgun!"
In all seriousness, Tartanic will not be touring after the close of the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Please come out to Apache Junction to give us your support because it's truly been a joy to entertain you. Also, come and get your Tartanic CDs because they're going like hot cakes and won't be available for much longer (AZRF ends April 1, 2007). They will also be available at CDBaby.com until that date.
Again, we've enjoyed our run for the last five years and we've especially loved meeting all of our adoring fans. In ten years, we'll look back at this period in our lives and think fondly on it.
We Love You,
The Guys of Tartanic

Another similar group ( I have a couple of CDs ) is Wicked Tinkers, but they seem to stay mainly on the west coast. Anyone ever seen them, live? If they ever make it to Virginia, I'll be there.

I caught the last of Wicked Tinkers at the Utah Higland Games last year. From what I saw they would have a great show. I bought their CD "Rant" there and later purchased "Bangers for Breakfast" online.
I only recently heard of Albannach but have purchased there self-titled CD as a download from there website. Great Stuff!
