The sense of it all.
The world of logistics as they really are:
Package of goods from the College of Piping in Glasgow, Scotland to my home in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A 56 Hours.
Package of chanter reeds from St. Catharines, ON, Canada by way of Kitchener, ON and Mississauga, ON to the U.S. 20 Hours. From where it landed in the U.S. to my home in Boston, MA 14 DAYS.
A Kilt from Minneapolis, MN to my home in Boston 39 Hours.
A kilt from Phoenixville, PA to my home in Boston 31 hours (all three times!).
A toner cartridge for a specialized printer from Framingham, MA to Boston, MA 26 days. ( I now drive out and get it.)
A kilt from Seattle, WA to Boston, MA 40 Hours.
A wee package from Victoria, BC, Canada to my home in Boston, MA 45 Hours.
My practise chanter from Saint Catharines, ON, via Kitchener, ON then Mississauga, ON to Newark, NJ to Boston, MA 4 Days.
My small pipes from Kearny, NJ to my home in Boston, MA 36 Hours.
I could go on, but the need for logistics type people is enormous in the field of transportation. I hope one of them finds you soon. I also pray to the Kilt gods that your American Heritage tartan kilt from Rocky pleases you as much if not more than my American Heritage semi-traditional from Rocky delights me.

Well, if you think about it, maybe the kilt gods were looking out for you. Imagine where you'd have been if you hadn't saved up all that cash each time, or if you had gotten the kilt first and then had something happen. Their jones spell and your squirrel instincts (rather than paying for stuff with money you don't have) gave you the ability to deal with all the stuff that came your way. Thank them for their intervention, and later you may be rewarded with a wonderful kilt that has more value than it cost.
I hope you are back in the swing of things soon.
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

That was my thought, as well. It sounds to me like the gods like you. The fates spinning at the roots of the world, on the other hand... They're laughing.
Good luck with the job situation, man. I was faced with a similar situation not so long ago. Luckily, my company has picked up some business, and I have a reprieve... for the time being.

I have been off work since before Christmas.
Let me tell you Rex speaks truth. I was wanting a kilt in the worst way to properly represent my clan. I sweated the decision adn my family seeing my angst said, "Go ahead, we'll chip in too!"
I measured, ordered, put the money down...and the next week began the cutbacks and lay offs that led to my plant closing. Had I known, I probably would not have gotten the kilt. I know how it goes.
That said, I am very happy I have my kilt because yes...the cost was something that financially pained me and times for me are tough. But I wouldn't trade it for the fellowship and the good times I have had thanks to the kilt. Nor would I trade back the pride and confidence the kilt has given when I really needed it.
I do not presume to tell you what decision to make. But we only go around once and one should take the chance to be happy when they can. If we wait for "the perfect time" to do something then not much would ever get done.

What Rex said, and remember, only a few fortunate ones in this world get what they want, the blessed get what they need. I hope you are gainfully employed soon.
Best wishes,
David

Patience, the Coyote will tire and you will get your shot. Perhaps the Coyote (aka kilt god) was protecting you....had you bought the kilt before each of the above you'd no doubt have been remorseful.
The time will come.
