Thanks the rain did come on for a bit! The black flags are a group called siol nan gaidheal (seed of the gael) I think!

That looks like the same statue as at Stirling castle. They haven't moved it have they? There used to be a good pub at Bannockburn for a pint after we fished nearby North Third reservoir. I think it is a Travelodge place now though.
