Amazing! My wife has promised me some summer kilt hose (knit in cotton-linen) recently; I can't wait!
We have "Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys, and Arans: Fishermen's Sweaters from the British Isles" by Gladys Thompson; and, "Designs for Knitting Kilt Hose and Knickerbocker Stockings" by Dowager Lady Veronica Gainford. Not for beginning sockers to be sure; but, oh my...
The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.

The Summer kilt hose sound great! What pattern will she be using? I have two of those books as well...I don't have Gladys Thompson's book though! Sounds like a good one! I'm anxious to try the diced ones in Lady Gainford's book!

Excellent! Extraordinary! For me that would be a dream come true and I am sure it is for him. Lucky man. By the way, if it doesn't fit I take a size 42 jacket. 10 1/2 shoe.

Are you doing that on round needle or straight? Is the pattern from a book? Information please.

Thank you, yes, this is being knit on a circular needle, size 6 US. The pattern is from Drops Design from Garn Studio, (www.garnstudio.com) pattern number 52-7.
All of the patterns are free on this site...Yay!...and they do have some very nice ones! This particular pattern is knit in the round up to the armscye, then the raglan shaping is done. Sleeves are then knit up to armscye and then put back on circular needles with the body of the sweater to finish off.

So far, Tommy seems quite pleased with the sweater. Unfortunately, I don't believe this one would fit you...nor would the kilt hose.
