A really nice shirt is made by Filson ( www.filson.com). Check out their safari cloth shirt, and I think they now have a bush shirt with eqaulets. While not really military shirts, they still have that classic look that goes well with kilts.
In that same vein (albiet less expensive), L.L. Bean offers a cotton poplin field shirt:

I own one, and you can't go wrong with L.L. Bean, Filson or Orvis.

Eddie Bauer makes a nice shirt that compares to those from LL Bean, but I've heard that they have been closing a lot of stores of late.

Just my personal opinion, but I think Bean's quality is better than Eddie Bauer's. EB started to go down hill when they tried to be "trendy".

As usual, all the above mentioned sources are fine, if you are in the middle of the length range. For those of us at either end (too tall or too short) finding such a shirt can be a real problem. If you find any epaulet shirts with 37-38" sleeve length and 17-171/2 collars, let us know! Especially if the cost is in the $20 range!

Tilly makes a very nice product but they are probably more expensive than some of the others..........but they last forever.
