I don't know what clan affiliation Lord Lyon has, but if he was there officially, I don't think he would be allowed to wear a kilt.

Great photos.
You have to give the the Border Scots credit for adapting the kilt as a national dress even though the kilt is not part of their history.
I noticed quite a few of the Border Scots attending the Elliot Gathering a few weeks ago in Newcastleton work kilts - though most preferred tartan trews.

Thanks for those, I enjoyed that. I'd planned to be there Alex but unfortunately work stepped in and ruined it all.
Anyone got any pictures of the evening's entertainment? I'd like to see pictures of the Chili Pipers et al.
