if you do a scotweb tartan search for the name "pink" it actually brings up several fabrics including at least two tartans and a couple interesting tweeds that could be made into kilts. Dundee is not too bad looking and might be worth wearing at other times than the Breast Cancer awareness gatherings, although I bet if you bought it you would have something to wear every year to the multitude of such gatherings.

I know about Pink Death, but I really can't afford even a casual normal kilt that I am only going to wear once. Any bright ideas?

Get a cheap polyester (not only expendable but less chaffing than wool can get on a long walk especially regimental) kilt in a pale (white sand colours) material and add some pink die. It will be an original one of a kind in honor of the event.
Obviously all the pattern will react to make different shades in ie brown = dark brown, white= pink etc
Try Ailsa tartan or Baileiville tartan types. would take a pink dye where as dark ones would simply go weird.
