Well now, I imagine that the Imperial Sand Dunes area close to the Mexican border in SE California would be the remotest location for me:

Hm.... 15 miles in from the trailhead, Emigrant Wilderness in the Sierra Nevada.
Then again, I took a kilt along in Ankle Biter when I did the singlehanded transpac. So I COULD have put it on halfway between California and Hawaii....1,000+ miles from land in the horizontal direction. But I didn't.

I suppose Kyrgyzstan, in the border town of Osh. I don't have any pics to prove it, so I guess it didn't really happen, but I wore my Pittsburgh Kilts desert digital to a family dinner at an Uzbek family's compound. Man we ate some plov that night.
