Often for breakfast we have half a plate of smoked salmon, twist of lemon, black pepper and scrambled egg-----simply delicious! Around here we call it "woodcock on toast". Why? I have no idea!

You could make some stovies, bridies or Crannachan as a dessert.

I'd think haggis would be the obvious choice, but Tatties,Bannocks, or a good Shortbread is the way to go if you want something most people will like.

There's also a great site, believe it is called rampantscotland, has some great recipes.

Jock's is great and very good, and it being smoked means no reheating.

We did something similar at my old place of employ. I brought 2 steak pies, 1 haggis and a bunch of shortbread. The steak pies were very popular, as was the shortbread, the haggis was not touched. I see nothing wrong with bringing shortbread, most people will enjoy it, yes it may be stereotypical but heck everyone knows it's Scottish and everyone likes it, so why not?

Venison perhaps? Grouse might be harder to find, but would be an excellent choice if you can find any.

Poached salmon would also work extremely well.

    Ecclefechan butter tart.

My wife makes these for special occasions only. Personally, we don't serve them to people we don't call friends.

Cock-and- Leekie soup is a favorite at my office. I have been bringing it in for a St. Andrews Day lunch and for a Robbie Burns lunch to my office for a few years now. You can find many recipes for it on the web.
    Have fun,
    Sara
