She really must love me...
I was surfing the forum yesterday and reading a post about hair sporrans and whether they are appropriate for civilian wear...specifically for a wedding
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/r...x.html?t=54887 .
It was in that thread that Robert (Ancienne Alliance) posted about his drooling over a couple of the hair sporrans offered by Skye Highland Outfitters (owned by our very own NorCalPiper). I, of course, had to go check out the wares and was very impressed with them, particularly the civilian hair sporrans.
I sent my wife the link as we were chatting last night on yahoo (I'm in Afghanistan, she's in the US...I know chatting seems a bit impersonal for a couple to communicate, but it's pretty cost effective). This is not at all an unusual thing for me to do...I always have a list of expensive things that I want...and usually I go without most of them. I didn't show it to her expecting anything from her...just to show her that I liked it and to solicit her feedback on a goathair sporran, as she given me some grief previously (teasingly) about not letting dead animal fur into her house or being seen with me in public with me wearing a dead varmint.
Well in speaking with her tonight over the phone, she informed me that she had purchased me one of these fine pieces for my Christmas present....I'm still totally and utterly in shock!!! She was going to keep it a secret, but then got worried that I might go and buy myself one without telling her. Would I do that??? Well....maybe.
Anyways...I just wanted to share my exciting news...and pass along my thanks to NorCalPiper too. She mentioned that there were a few emails back and forth and that he was very helpful in helping her make the purchase! I'm already very excited about finally reuniting with my family for Christmas after being apart from them for about 15 months with only a couple visits in that time. This sporran is simply the icing on the cake!!! You can bet that I will be decked out in my kilt on Christmas day (or whenever we celebrate it if I don't make it home by Dec 25th)...and will be adding this fine sporran to my attire. Oh...and of course I'll post pics.....
