Good luck with the insurance company. My car was attacked by a deer almost a month ago (I was doing 70mph, the deer was doing probably 15mph, and our paths crossed). I just got my car back this morning from the body shop. Over $4,000 in repairs. Thank God for insurance! It only cost me a $500 deductible. And thank God I had the foresight to put rental car coverage on my policy as well. That would have cost me another $900 to rent a car for the last month if I hadn't.

Hitting a deer is generally considered a "no fault" accident, but I imagine your accident (running into a stationary object in the road, even if it didn't belong there) will likely result in your policy going up.

Up here you pay the full freight because, after all, deer don't have insurance.

I used to live in South Dakota. Hitting a deer was called "dinner."

As my neighbour used to say (and it's my favourite quote in these situations), "Don't matter whether you get 'em with a gun er a Goodyear, it's all good eatin'."

Hope the truck is fine, Frank!

I had a tree attack my parked truck. Really. The best I can figure is that the tree had root rot, and decided to fall. The insurance company said it was not covered.

Did you try honking to see if the tree would move?
